Hello my fourth grade friends!!!
It’s been a crazy trip, very busy every day. This weekend we travelled all over, we went to Curio Bay where you can swim with dolphins. I found so many cool shells that I will bring back for you to see. We went to Cathedral Caves, these caves you can only go through when the tide is out, they were amazing. After site seeing for the day we headed to Dunedin to watch a Rugby game. The game is a mix between soccer and football, it is very rough and they wear no gear. I have many stories to tell you about the game. Sharron, my host mom and I went on a 10K bike ride on a trail, we got to ride through tunnels and had to turn on a light on our bike to see.
On Monday, we went rope climbing and sea kayaking. I climbed up very high and crossed over a bridge, it was a bit scary, but I was happy I did it. I was not a fan of sea kayaking, as we had severe winds that made it almost impossible to do. Today we went to the glow worm caves, they were so much fun. We rode in a boat in complete darkness to see the worms, I will share what I learned about them when I return. Heading for a three day overnight to Queenstown, I will write again when I get back on Sunday.
The trip is ending soon which makes me sad, but I can’t wait to get back to my classroom.
Miss you all-

Kiaora my wonderful classroom-
I can hardly believe that I have been gone for over a week. We travelled on a huge airplane to get here, it took us a total of 19 hours to get all the way to Invercargill. We spent our first couple days in Wellington, which is on the north island. We visited a really cool museum, and Parliament which is just like our capitol building in Olympia. We also got to visit the Lord of the Rings / Hobbit Tour, which took us to places where the movie was filmed.
When we arrived in Invercargill our host families greeted us with signs, many of the kids were jumping up and down with excitement. My host family is a lot like my family. The mom is Sharron, dad is Reece, and the two sons are Elliot and Tate.
On Monday we went to the school which does the exchange program with us. We sang the National Anthem, Grand Old Flag, and America the Beautiful at an assembly they had for us. The children were very quiet, they are not allowed to talk in an assembly. We exchanged the teddy bears that have been traveling back and forth from Tacoma to Invercargill for 25 years.
So far we have been to beautiful beaches, rode bikes at the velodrome, milked cows, sheered sheep, and visited many museums. We are having a great time learning about the culture over here. Tomorrow we head north to Dunedin for an overnight trip to stay at a museum for the night. I will write again after that trip.
I miss all of you very much. I hope that everyone is keeping up with AR points, doing your homework, and behaving for your substitute teacher. I have two presents for you, if you are behavingJ I will email again soon.
Love ya-
